HIMA has formed 'HIMA Segurança e Controle Crítico Ltda' (HIMA Safety and Critical Control) and opened an office in Sao Paulo. The Brazilian company is HIMA’s sixteenth subsidiary.

“Our newest subsidiary reflects the increasing importance of Brazil in the worldwide economy and our desire to provide customers in the region with local support and meet local content requirements,” said Carlos Gebauer Neto, General Manager Brazil. “Working in cooperation with our local partners, HIMA Segurança e Controle Crítico will supply best-in-class services and support to help companies manage the safety lifecycle of their plants, pipelines and machines.”

Among other services, HIMA Segurança e Controle Crítico will provide systems assembly, safety application software programming and testing, on-site acceptance tests, and commissioning and startup services. HIMA expects the Brazilian subsidiary to become the company’s center of safety expertise for Brazil and all of Latin America.

HIMA closed fiscal year 2013 with record sales of 105 million euros. This 16% increase in sales over the previous year was significantly higher than the industry average growth rate.

Orders received thus far in 2014 indicate that double-digit sales growth will also be achieved this year.


06-05-2014 - HIMA adds new senior management

Over the past 10 years, safety automation expert HIMA has doubled its sales, tripled its workforce and increased its number of Group companies worldwide from two to 16. To ensure continued growth and success, the company has created the new positions of chief executive officer (CEO) and chief financial officer (CFO).

Steffen Philipp, Managing Partner since 1999, continues to oversee the company's strategic alignment while taking on more duties as a partner and investor. Steffen Philipp, who took the company into its fourth generation, will drive structural and overall economic development of the firm while preserving the character of the financially independent, family-run organization. Additionally, he will act as HIMA Group ambassador to key customers and representatives from government, science and business. 

Sankar Ramakrishnan, Head of Marketing since October 2012, was appointed CEO in October 2013. Reinhard Seibold, who assumed the new function of CFO on May 1, completes the new management team.

17-04-2014 - HIMA supports charity work by employees

In the initiative „Charity work - HIMA employees for the community“, the prize for 2013 was won by ‘Tumbador’, a Belgian non-profit organisation. ‚Tumbador‘ provides physical rehabilitation and education of disabled people in Guatemala and Peru. Veerle Hertling from HIMA Benelux handed out the cheque for about 1.000 Euro to Chris Bouden and Dirk Maes (both Tumbador) for their charity encouragement.
For the second time all HIMA employees had the opportunity to vote for the submitted charity projects. The presentation and voting took place between October and November on the HIMA intranet. Among the projects proposed were e.g. an Argentinean organisation which aims to empower people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and a German horse school for youngsters.

At 31.8 kilometers, the Transrapid Versuchsanlage Emsland (TVE) is the world's largest testing facility for magnetic levitation vehicles. The existing auxiliary operational control system for guideway switches (ZBW) hardware is to be replaced within the scope of an ongoing project. The contract was awarded by IABG mbH, which has been responsible for plant management of the TVE since 1984. 4-11-2009 - Gja pipeline: reducing costs with high pressure - New pipeline protection system from Statoil

A new type of flow-based pipeline protection system (PPS) for the new Gja field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea will lead to significant savings in pipeline costs and higher pressures for gas transport. The process on which PPS is based has been developed and patented by Statoil. Bjrge Safety Systems AS (BSS), the Norwegian agent of the company HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH + Co KG, has implemented the PPS with HIMAs safety system H51q.

26-10-2009 - HIMax system guarantees maximum availability of chlorine plant - New HIMA safety system safeguards continuous chlorine production process at Vinnolit Gendorf

HIMax is safeguarding the chlorine production process at Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KGs Gendorf facility. The leading German PVC manufacturer was won over by HIMAs total redundancy concept, which guarantees the continuous operation of the chlorine plant. The performance of the PES was one of the things that swung the decision in favour of HIMax. It has the performance needed for the machine applications, especially the pump limit regulation, explains Peter Grandl, EMR technician in the chlorine production area at Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KG Burgkirchen.

HIMA France organizes 2 showrooms inside of France. The focus lays in the presentation of HIMax, HIQuad and HIMatrix combined with all services as safety consulting and project management & engineering. The first showroom took already place in Martigues and was very successful. Costumers and system integrators assured themselves about the advantages of the HIMA solutions.

14-10-2009 - High availability at a glance - HIMax from HIMA as a visualisation and operation component at INEOS Köln

HIMax is now in use at INEOS Köln (Germany, Cologne) as a high-availability operating and visualising component for remote monitoring of safety technology in a production plant. The challenge in this application is the length of the optical fibre used for high-speed data transmission.

As the new  Executive Vice President Sales Process Automation and Service, Thomas Hinzmann will manage global sales activities for HIMA.

Thomas Hinzmann, with degrees in electrical engineering and business (Master of electrical engineering and Master of business administration), has extensive experience in sales. Previously, he worked as Director of Sales Rosemount Europe for Emerson Process Management.

Thomas Hinzmann will assume the duties of Dr. Hans-Jörg Kmiecik, who becomes Vice President Global Project Pursuit and will be responsible for the acquisition of major projects. This position was created to ensure the long-term growth of the company internationally.

HIMA modernises ESD system in hexane oxidation plant at LANXESS

In a hexane oxidation plant belonging to LANXESS AG at the Krefeld-Uerdingen Chemical Park (North Rhine-Westphalia region), HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH + Co KG is upgrading an existing HIMA ESD (Emergency Shutdown) system. Because LANXESS planned to shut down the plant for a very short period before commissioning, it decided to conduct a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) using the expanded and modernised safety system.

17-3-2009 - HIMax ensures Flexibility of Burner Control System - Evonik Degussa uses new safety system from HIMA at factory in Kalscheuren

The Evonik Degussa GmbH factory in Kalscheuren near Cologne is the largest European producer of carbon black. During the production of carbon black, the residual gas is used for steam and electricity generation in the thermal afterburning plant. If a boiler stops functioning, however, a gas flare system starts operation to burn the residual gas. As part of renovation work, the boiler control and monitoring system for the gas flare was automated using the new safety system HIMax from HIMA. More...
