InnoTrans 2026: HIMA Group Advances the Digital Railway with New Solutions for Rolling Stock, Signalling, Infrastructure & SCADA, and Security

At InnoTrans 2026, HIMA Group demonstrated how independently certified safety technology is enabling the next generation of digital railway systems. As the safety backbone of the digital railway and a technology partner for rail, the company presented a product and solutions portfolio for Rolling Stock, Signalling, Infrastructure & SCADA, and Security. This portfolio supports railway operators, OEMs, and infrastructure managers to improve safety, security, availability, operational resilience, and lifecycle efficiency across the entire rail ecosystem.

Built on the Group’s Independent Open Safety Platform and proven rail engineering expertise, HIMA’s solutions are designed for light rail, urban transit, and high-speed rail applications. They enable customers to modernize their infrastructure with greater flexibility and connectivity, without being locked into proprietary technologies.

World Premiere: TrackLink® 4

One of the highlights at InnoTrans was the launch of TrackLink 4, the next-generation platform for secure SIL 2-certified track-to-train communication. Developed by HIMA’s rail competence center Sella Controls, TrackLink 4 combines onboard readers with passively powered trackside beacons to provide highly reliable, location-based communication between train and infrastructure.

Compared with its predecessor, the new platform offers Ethernet connectivity, modular protocol integration, extended safety I/O, and secure communication at speeds exceeding 200 km/h. It is designed for operating in environments from -40°C to +80°C, features IP68 protection, and supports dual-tag and antenna technology for robust data transmission. Developed in accordance with IEC 62443, applications include automatic selective door operation, power changeover, and overspeed prevention.

Four Solution Areas for the Railway of Tomorrow

Visitors to the HIMA booth experienced four dedicated showcases demonstrating how certified safety technology supports the complete railway lifecycle.

Rolling Stock

The company demonstrated certified onboard safety solutions for vehicle control, modernization, and lifecycle management, featuring TrackLink 4 for precise train positioning and reliable vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. Benefits include safe and compliant train operation, easier modernization, and improved lifecycle efficiency for operators and rolling stock manufacturers.

Signalling

Based on the independently SIL 4-certified Open HIMA Safety Platform, which features at the core of our partners’ signalling solutions. This enables future-ready architectures for interlockings, level crossings, and depot automation. HIMA presented a Route Dispatcher System deployed at a major chemical site in the Netherlands, where HIMax safety systems are used for the interlocking solution. Furthermore, the company showcased its RaSTA implementation and EULYNX communication capabilities that support open, standards-based railway systems.

Infrastructure & SCADA

With the acquisition of Sella Controls, HIMA has further strengthened its portfolio, particularly in railway electrification. At the event, the company showcased integrated solutions based on its TrackLink® portfolio for traction power control, power isolation, and SCADA applications.

Live demonstrations of the Nexus Tyne and Wear Metro project in UK highlighted how operators can monitor and control traction power, ventilation, station management, and alarm handling more efficiently.

Security & Digital Railway

As rail networks become increasingly connected, cybersecurity is becoming a prerequisite for operational safety. Together with its technology partner genua, HIMA demonstrated secure remote access, OT protection, and resilient network architectures that support the secure digital transformation of railway operations. The company’s cybersecurity-by-design approach helps protect safety-critical assets across the full system lifecycle.
